Presentation Title:

Precision cardiovascular disease risk assessment and research through the lens of environmental health

Abstract

There are multiple factors predisposing an individual to CVDs. Trends ascertain a shift towards a younger age for getting affected by CVDs. However, environmental etiology of CVDs has been least studied, and a few Meta-Analyses reveal their independent association with untimely cardiac morbidity and mortality. The aim of this webinar is to explore and summarize existing literature in the field and build on it through prospective ideas for research especially in the Indian context. We shall get acquainted with the omics terminology and explore the concept of envirome, pollutome and interome that can affect heart. The role of built environment and sociomics, shall also be discussed. Environment-Wide Association Studies (EWAS) will be a breakthrough in cardiology research, and the consequent possibility of reversibility of cardiovascular ailments will be discussed in detail.
