Biography

Gaetano Thiene is a renowned cardiologist and pathologist from Italy, holding a long-standing academic career at the University of Padova. He graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Padova in 1972, followed by earning the ECFMG certification the same year. Thiene pursued post-graduate specializations in Cardiology (1975) and Pathological Anatomy (1978), becoming an expert in cardiovascular diseases. His academic journey began as an Assistant Professor at the University of Padova, advancing to Associate Professor (1983-1990), and later being appointed Full Professor (1990 to present). He currently directs the PhD Course in Cardiological Sciences and the Master in Cardiovascular Pathology at the University of Padova. Additionally, he served as the Director of the Institute of Pathological Anatomy (1998-2006) and holds the position of Vice Director in the Department of Medical Diagnostic Sciences and Special Therapies since 2007.

Throughout his career, Thiene has received multiple honors, including being named an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London, and a Foreign Fellow of the Serbian Academy of Sciences.
